Scotland. What so you think of when you hear the name? Rolling green hills? Deep lochs? Or do you think of warrior poets, like William Wallace, that faught for freesom against seemingly impossible odds? Did you know that in the 16th century the Scottish church sent out missionaries to spread the Gospel? Today, Scotland is no longer a country that seeks Christ and wants to impact the world. Only 2% of a population of roughly 1.5 million people attend church on a regular basis. The people of Scotland have walked away from their roots and now have turned ino one of the toughest mission fields in Europe. Missionaries are in great need in Scotland. The land is on the brink of a spiritual dark age that will see Christianity extict within 40 years unless drastic action is taken. While the local pubs and taverns are at standing room only, the church pews remain empty.
Yet, there is hope and the current situation can be reversed! The key to revival in Scotland is prayer. Prayer is the key that will open the door and allow the Light of Life to once again flood this country's shore. The country is filled with young people who are two or three generations removed from any significant Christian influence. Their parents and grandparents left the church years ago leaving a generation whose frame of reference to Jesus, the Bilbe, and the Church is that of ancient buildings that tourists visit. The hearts of these young Scots are clean slates that are just waiting for something... anything... to be etched on them.

God is assembling missionaries whose hearts have been blended in prayer with the national church so that they can reach this lost generation. The children of Scotland have no idea who Christ is except as a Person mentioned in old, dusty history books. Yet their spirits are crying out for a Savior! Their hearts are waiting for this Message of freedom to be breathed into their lives by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, " Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of Heaven belong to such as these." (Luke 18:16)

We have been in childrens' ministry for 16 years. During that time our spirits' cry has been definative, so not one child is lost for lack of hearing the Word or feeling the love of Christ poured out on them. God hasn't changed our call, just our location. As He has given us a heart for the children in New York, so He has enlared our territory to include those in Scotland. We will be one of the first missionaries sent to these children. It's an awesome, humbling thing that God would so call us and entrust this generation to our keeping. Our saying,"God, we will go to Scotland," is an answer to prayer that has been ongoing for the children of Northern Europe. If only one child is reached, perhaps the next John Knox, then our purpose has been fulfilled! Join us in our call! The children of Scotland are waiting!
